Every decision we make comes from one of two places: love or fear.
Fear is self-protection. It's focused inward, on our own safety, our own needs, the dangers we sense around us. When we operate from fear, we go into protection mode instead of relationship mode. And protection mode, by its nature, leads to isolation, the very thing we weren't designed for.
Love is different. Love isn't just the warm feeling we have for people we're close to. Real love is others-focused. It looks outward and asks, "What does this person need?"
When we all operate from love, everyone's needs get met. When we operate from fear, no one's needs get met because everyone is too busy protecting themselves to notice anyone else.
Marriage is the clearest picture of this. When each partner puts the other's needs first, both partners end up cared for. But when each one is focused only on getting their own needs met, neither one does. They drift into isolation and the relationship they were designed to have breaks down.
In our culture, social media, the news, and the algorithms are built to trigger fear. Fear is what keeps us scrolling.
So here's the challenge: choose an other-centered (love) mindset instead. Initiate love even when fear would be easier. It is how we were designed, to flourish in real, deep, satisfying relationships with others.
